  • Slowing down imported audio track in GarageBand iOS. I use Anytune Pro+ (iOS) for learning songs with guitar - great app btw (there are others too and FREE), with that I slow down song for example 150 bpm down by 50% and export it as a M4a. I then create new song in GB with tempo 50% of original song, ie. 75 bpm and import the slowed song.
  • Clear out your cache If the iPad internet is slow, it might be due to the cache being full of temporary data. The iPad safari app can slow things down From time to time you may want to clear your cache To do that, just tap Settings Safari Clear History and Website Data.
  • In GarageBand on your iPad, set the current song section to Automatic to import the entire audio or MIDI file; otherwise, only the portion of the file that fits the current song section is imported. After importing the audio or MIDI file, you can make the song section longer, then resize the region so more of it plays.
  • Sep 29, 2016 This is the method to slow down any song in GarageBand. Use the flex control and change the BPM to get a much slower song by changing the tempo.

Unfortunately there isn’t a way to slow down or speed up audio imported as a waveform in GarageBand iOS. Apple Loops will adjust to the tempo of your track and can also be changed to from 0.5x to 2x speed, but regular audio files don’t support this function. You can use the Sampler to import.

In this example, I will show you how to speed up or slow down an MP3 track using Apple’s Garageband software.

  1. Create a new “Loops” track
  2. Drag the MP3 file into the track pane
  3. Press Control + Alt (Option) + G
    1. Once you do this, the track color will change from orange to purple.
  4. Click on the track
  5. Click the Track Editor button (scissors icon)
  6. Check the Follow Tempo & Pitch checkbox
  7. Select the Project LCD mode (this is the only mode with a Tempo option)
  8. Change the tempo from 120 (default)
    1. To make the song faster, raise the tempo
    2. To make the song slower, lower the tempo

That’s all there is to it!

You can slow down a section of a recorded track in Garageband. You'll need to isolate the track in its own Garageband file and then set things up just right to slow down the track.
